Last Outings of Summer

Sometimes you live in a place for so long you forget

what there is to do around you.

This was one of those days.

We just had to get out of the house.

Well, mostly needed to take the kids to do something before..well, I'm not sure what before would have been, but it was not going to be good for them whatever it was.

So, when you live where we live, and when all else fails, you just go to another country.

This time instead of doing the same things we have always done we did some new ones...and that included hitting the tourist shops.  We have driven by them for years and years but today they were the entertainment.

It turned out to be a fun day and I even brought them back home.

Quick Visit from Atlanta

Last week Dad and Mom called asking if they could come for a quick visit. Finally, we live only one flight from one another so it was easy to travel.

They came up on a unusually chilly August weekend but that did not stop us from some hiking along a trail that takes you under the bridge to Canada and and pass the Power Plants.  I think my dad also needed his daughter to treat him to some Indian Cooking…and of course she gladly did!
We sat around the table, eating a lot of good food while playing Uno with the kids - it was a fun night

Race Time

This past weekend we all competed in another Triathlon.

We were up bright and early on a perfect Saturday for a race, and had a great time.
This year Brett did the Duathlon (run, bike, run) and placed 1st in his age group
and I did the Triathlon placing 4th in my age group.

Joshua, Mac and Brenna (along with Rayhaan and Sophia) all completed the Kids Triathlon
and as always the kids are the most fun to watch.

They work so hard at each of the three events and for sure earn the medals that they get.

Grandpa and Nanna Long were able to come and help out with the kids and cheer them on.

The whole gang before the kids race.

Time for Braces

Today Matthew woke up so excited knowing this was the day he was getting braces.

He did a great job sitting really still and keeping his mouth opened wide.

The kids actually love going to the orthodontist- who wouldn't TV's, Video Games, Computers  and Bubble Hockey to play with.  It is actually hard to get them to leave.
